Wellington Classic Dressage
Dressage is a growing sport in America and Wellington Classic Dressage is on the leading edge of that growth. Launched just three years ago, Wellington Classic Dressage has become Florida’s premier show series that now hosts not only national and international qualifying dressage competitions, but also educational events, like its Professional Riders’ Clinic and Symposium, fundraisers, such as its Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots and USET Foundation fundraisers and, in 2009, the USDF Region 3 Championships. Headed by managing partners Noreen O'Sullivan Flanagan and John Flanagan, Wellington Classic Dressage has bucked recessionary trends. While some businesses shrank with the economy, Wellington Classic Dressage has grown and helped the local economy as well. Its 2010 show season is bigger and better than ever with more events and more shows, including a CDI-W that will serve as a qualifying event for the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games.
The popularity of Wellington Classic Dressage is evident in its frequent waiting lists for shows. Competitors are drawn to the series because of its professional and friendly management staff and by the fabulous Palm Beach County Jim Brandon Equestrian Center in West Palm Beach, home of the Wellington Classic Dressage series. The Jim Brandon Equestrian Center offers top-notch stabling, superior footing and a covered arena that makes for a comfortable show environment for competitors and spectators alike. Quality is the focus of Wellington Classic Dressage and contributing to its success is the ability of the series to mix high-level competition with fun. The competition inside the show ring is fierce, but outside the ring, competitor parties and special competitions, such as the 2008 Wild Card Challenge, make for an enjoyable show experience for all.
